I am often asked when I provide a QR code to a business owner, why they would want this. I simply say “If you build it, they will come.” Many business owners are concerned about new technology. I believe this is because they do not see the future for what it is.
If you keep doing what you have been doing you will get what you already have. This statement as been repeated numerous times by many different motivational speakers and it is true, except in building your BRAND. You have to embrace the technology and use it to its fullest potential. I know nobody you know uses Cell Phones to find your business, while this may be true, I doubt it. If it is true today, tomorrow is a different time period.

Wait, are you sitting there wondering what the heck this QR Code is? I know how you feel I felt the same way six months ago when I saw the first one on the side of a drink cup at a fast food restaurant. Well here is the definition.
“A QR code(abbreviation for Quick Response code) is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) that is readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera telephones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded may be text, URL, or other data”
These were created in 1994 by a company in Japan.
Let me give you a couple of ideas on how your business can use these.
- Put them on a flyer on your company bulletin board so customers can scan them and the code will take them directly to your website.
- Put them on print material, such as mailers. This will provide customers the opportunity to scan information in from the mailer and they don’t have to keep the paper around, or worse yet, lose the information.
- Provide an online coupon that they can scan directly from the computer and bring into your store.
